As we boldly go where no blogging service has gone before, it seems we don’t have enough power! As in electricity to physically power all of the new hardware we have. I asked if hamsters on wheels would help things out but they seem to think the power requirements are even beyond that. It’s not an issue, because we’re not one thousandth of one percent to the capacity of our existing servers, but I’m personally looking forward to firing up the new hardware, so I imagine some of you might be anxious too. I will keep everyone updated on this WordPress Power Saga 2005 as it unfolds.

I have a dynometer on my old bike for powering the light, would a bigger hamster do? I need to get fit after blogging too much, perhaps I could do both at the same time!

You know a friend of mine visited Africa recently, where they have a rather large lack of electricity and he fixed up his laptop with a crank to charge up the battery. It worked pretty well, I think he said it’d last about six hours or something.

WordPress Power Saga 2005

… electricity, of course. But Matt informs us that electricity is more of a constraint than hardware right now. That’s the feeblest excuse I’ve heard from a blog hosting service since March 17…
What is it about blogs and power…

With the passing of Scott, your title brought a tear to my eye. A fantastic write up of why as engineers we will miss Scotty is at http://www.understandingxml.com/archives/2005/07/what_i_learned.html .
