More Invites

with 28 comments

If you’re a current user of WordPress.com and you’ve run out of invites, let me know. I may be able to bump your number back up a bit. We’re also looking into ways we can grant invites after a certain amount of usage or time automatically, but for now just let us know how many awesome people you’ve invited already and how you want to include more. :)

  1. Well, I am certainly out of invites :) That only one invitation has been given to my best friend, Budi. I don’t know if I need more invitation, but it won’t hurt if you give more to me :) Maybe I should make an invite give away like yours. It’s fun to see the reasons why people want it. Oh and I agree wih the ” grant invites after a certain amount of usage or time automatically” hehehe.

  3. I just got a wordpress.com invite today and after activating my account sent my single invite to my wife. I’ve been hoping to convert her to blogging for sometime. I’d like to have two more invites — one for a bro-in-law and one for a friend. I’m patient though. For some reason I’m still having trouble just changing the title of my blog. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. No idea.

  7. Well I’ll wait for another invite. Let people sweat and beg. I say 1 new invite every 2 weeks, with a maximum of 5 invites. Pretty much use the invites or lose them when you save up more than 5. 2 weeks is just a number I would be happy with 1 new invite every month, but I’m sure people would be upset on waiting 4 weeks for a new invite.

There was a discussion going on at Matt’s about giving out more invites and the next thing is saw in my Dashboard was a invite tab right next to feedback tab. I guess the invites arsenal will be refilled every now and then. Here is how it looks: [...]

  16. [...] It all started from Matt’s post about more invites. So far the wordpress.com users has only one invites to give away. But Matt suggested that maybe it need to be change a little. Maybe giving more invites for people who is really using wordpress.com. Time-based system will be just fine. And he sure kept his promise. Now I got one more invite to give away. And with the time-based system I’m hoping to get more next time. Thanks, Matt. Okay, what should I do with this one here? I’ll think about it first and post about it later. Or I can always make a invite-giveaway like what Matt did [...]

  17. Nice to see a new invite !

  18. [...] Well, then the other day, Matt mentioned that he was upping the number of invites that users had and that seemed to me to indicate that they were ready to take on more users.  All rightie then!  Time to give some away.  I left a comment to Matt’s post letting folks know that I had some to give away and sure enough I started getting some traffic and requests and I gave a bunch away to pretty much anyone who asked.  I mean, what the hell, I had 49. 19. If anyone gives me an invite I’ll give the one invite that comes with the blog back. Perty please.

  21. Matt, I’ve only invited ch0de.wordpress.com. I don’t know him personally, but he asked me nicely. However, I would like to invite some people I do know personally, so would you be so kind to boost my number of invited a bit?

  24. [...] This is just cool. There are many blogging services out there, but the new WordPress.com will beat them all. Why, you ask? Well, because it runs WordPress, of course. WordPress.com is still in the early stages of development, and currently you can only participate via an invitation from the site owner itself. I’ve entered my email address, and look forward to checking it out. It’s supposed to make blogging “brainless”. Of course, for power geeks, there will always be WordPress.org, the original WordPress site where you can always download the free blogging platform that is taking the world by storm. I’ll continue to use my own tweaked version of WordPress, because… well… it’s more fun. But using a WordPress.com blog would be fun, as well. If I ever get my invitation, the URL, of course, will be http://meeciteewurkor.wordpress.com. How could it be anything else? There’s talk that WordPress.com will be set up with an invitation system similar to that of Google’s Gmail, where the only way you can get Gmail is if a current user invites you. This has been wildly successful with Gmail and I suspect the same will happen to wordpress.com. [...]

  27. Hi,

I cant seem to use my invite. I got it a week ago but was unable to access my mail to use it. When I tried it just now, it just takes me to the front page of http://wordpress.com.

    Can you help me out?

    Thanks :-)
