iPad supports dvorak, kind of

I wish they had it for the soft keyboard as well.

  1. This is not “kind of” at all. It only works for an external keyboard plugged in. I wouldn’t care if the soft keyboard caps were not changed if I could at least not have to type in qwerty. I am used to many laptops and physical keyboards where changing the caps is a pain. I touch type dvorak and know where all the keys are by position. So that makes doing this to my satisfaction even easier. But still nothing from Apple. So why isn’t teh ability to make this happen part of the SDK at least?

  2. Still not here with 5.1.1 – although I’m not sure if that is the os version or the iPad version, it’s hard to tell. Got my first one for students to use and I am quite convinced that these things are well below acceptably ‘usable’. I got an android phone recently and was able to install a DVORAK keyboard in about 2 minutes. It’s not difficult to change the positions of soft keys – surely.
